City & Guilds Level 2 6151-02 Tunnel Entry & Associated Emergency Procedures. This qualification has been developed from the national occupational standards for medium risk confined space, specifically for use in Tunnel Entry and Associated Emergency Procedures. It has been developed in conjunction with industry experts to be a pre-requisite for entering any tunnel. This qualification is for anyone working in or entering a tunnel.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
It is for candidates who work or want to work in the tunnelling industry during tunnel and or shaft construction activities. This qualification is part of an initiative to support competence in the tunnelling workforce
The minimum entry requirement is a good understanding of spoken and written English. If you have concerns in this area, please call us on 01275 398 665. The minimum age of attendance for this course is 16 years old, however delegates who are under the age of 18 must bring a completed parental consent form to the first day of the training course.HOW LONG IS THE COURSE?
1 dayWHAT WILL I LEARN?
- Different types of Tunnelling methods in the UK
- Common hazards in tunnels and shafts
- Gaining authorisations and using communication systems
- Enter and exit tunnels and shafts
- Work safely in tunnels and shafts
- Atmospheric hazards, Gases and Gas Monitoring
- Practical use of Gas Monitors, including bump testing
- Prepare and using respiratory protective equipment (RPE) for escape purposes (re-breathers)
- Understand industry standards including Confined Space Regulations, L101 and BS 6164
- Dealing with emergencies
- Reacting appropriately to emergency Arrangements
The qualification is delivered through a combination of practical and theoretical training at a City and Guilds approved centre, with realistic facilities that replicate the tunnel environment.ANY EXAMS I NEED TO PASS?
Need to attend the 1 day course. This qualification is assessed through a practical observation and written multi-choice assessment.WHAT WILL I GET WHEN I PASS THE COURSE?
Delegates successfully completing the course will be issued with a Certification by City and Guilds Level 2 6151-02 Tunnel Entry & Associated Emergency Procedures which is valid for 3 years.
It allows candidates to progress into employment or to the following qualifications: Tunnelling Operations Vocational Qualifications
We also offer a City & Guilds 6160-09 - Entrant and Entry Controller for Confined Spaces - Medium Risk course.
We also offer a City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Working in High Risk Confined Spaces 6160-03 which runs for 3 days.
